Designer & Developer
Let's be honest, while writing CSS is pretty straightforward, architecting it and maintaining it is a pain in the arse. Stylus is pretty good at numbing some of that pain, and there are some absolute nuggets that I don't think people are aware of…

In something of a design flurry, I've given the community-driven node.js tutorial site, How To Node, a fresh new look.

I designed my game developer friend's spiffy new site: go take a look (He built the thing, 'cause he's a man of many talents).
I updated my deployment process. It's now got a name: launch. It's been
decoupled from my hosting architecture, and is now a cheeky module that can
be installed with npm (npm install launch).
Head over to the github repo to get the low down. You can expect a full write up here in the near future.
The reasons for this (essentially complete) rewrite, are that the old method relied too heavily on git, and was very coupled with my server setup. Now these obstacles are removed it should be easier to adopt into various workflows.

Last week's family holiday in La Palma ☀

Got my bike back from South Coast Bikes last week, where they did a complete overhaul and a single speed conversion. I toyed with the idea of fixed gear, but went for a freewheel in the end (I would have got hub gears if I had the money).
The gear is just the right ratio for cycling the really gentle incline from central Brighton to Sussex Uni campus, but it's just slightly too low for the way back. Small compromise for the simplicity and beauty of it now though.
I am a web developer – I don't need a CMS, and in fact, I actually quite like handling files and code and stuff. Here's how I implemented the rudimentary blogging engine for this site.
This September my girlfriend and I went InterRailing in Europe. You can read about it on the blog we kept, where I've just retrospectively added the last post. The picture below was from a wonderful sunset in Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, Vienna.

Hello there! It's taken me a while, but I finally got round to it – here is my new site.
Have a browse. Everything is (and will appear) here. I thought hard about what is the most relevant thing to display, and that I should display that first. I decided that the most relevant thing is often the most recent thing, so all things (blog posts, porfolio pieces, photos, whatever) will display here, ordered by date. Enjoy!

Here's a design I did for a DVD store.

My home baked deployment process for node.js based projects. Aside from looking pretty, it means I don't need to worry about manually sticking up files by FTP and restarting the server, where all sorts can go wrong.

While I think this site works as a living and breathing CV, a traditionally formatted version of my CV can be located here.
It's responsive for the exec on the go...
